A natural link structure is going to be very diverse, including all sorts of different link structures like links from blog comments, links from web 2.0 sites, links from forums, links from videos, links from article directories, links from social bookmarking sites, links from podcast sites, links from file sharing sites and any other sort of links you can imagine. Diversity in links is what occurs due to natural demand. Like for example the a terrorist attack. The news spread instantly across all sorts of mediums, very soon people talks about it in all sorts of places, like discussion forums, personal websites, video sharing sites, blog comments, article directories, news sites, picture sharing sites and what not. And that’s the kind of diversity that’s natural in Google eyes and that’s the kind of linking strategy that’s going to stay.
Ok enough for my disclaimer. Let’s get to my topic on praising the commenting strategy.
It’s just around 2 months since I started incorporating commenting as a core day to day traffic generation strategy and the results are simply awesome. Not only did my site recover from the google penalty which you can read in my previous post, I also started seeing signs of Google love. Google in fact ranked my site on first page for my main keyword. Also my Alexa rank seems to be becoming better each and every day. More than all, I started getting all the needed traffic which converted to subscribers and comments to my blog posts. And again all of the magic happened in just 2 months. So let’s dive in and have a closer look. I want to do it by first of all showing you the snap shot of my website’s alexa ranking in the last 25 days.

Can you see how my Alexa global website ranking jumped from #589,335th position to #433,493rd position in 25 days ? Isn’t it awesome ? Before you even start thinking about how it happened, I want to show you another image.

The above image shows you how my website is ranking for my main keyword “online income”, on the first page of Google global search. And it’s sitting at the 9th position in first page right now. I can’t guarantee if it’ll rise up or if it’ll drop, but one thing I know, I didn’t do much for the last 2 months, since my site’s return after vanishing from Google due to Google penalty. And for the last two months all I was doing was commenting on blogs. But I am not going to stick to just commenting, because I know it’s not going to look good in google eyes like I mentioned at the beginning.
Anyway my point is that commenting does work if you do it right. I am not talking about commenting on sites where all the other spammers hang around and drop their spam. I am talking about legitimately reading blog posts on high quality blogs and writing your comment based on the content you read. If you are thinking about commenting just for the sake of back-links without minding to read the blog post, you are simply wasting your time, as your comment is probably going to be deleted and kicked to the trash folder. So go ahead and start gaining knowledge by reading posts by authority blog owners, then drop quality comments that adds value to the post. Wishing you better ranking in google and lots of targeted traffic.
So, are you implementing commenting to your daily blogging duties ? If not, let me ask you why not ? If you are already doing it, let me know what results you are getting ? Is the time spent well worth your effort ? Do you agree that doing just commenting alone for your traffic generation only can result in drop in Google rankings ? Let me know by posting your valuable comments below. Thank you in advance for your comments. I look forward to reading and replying to your comments.

Welcome to Online Income Startup (OIS). I am Dr.Spencer Jones, I started my journey in to the world of internet business back in 2002, at age 18 when my father bought me my very first computer. But I created my very first website only on 2005. I've been learning and implementing various methods since then and in this blog I am sharing the methods that helped me generate income online.

Hi Spencer, these are great tips, thank you for sharing and for the reminder. As with many things in marketing, one of the secrets is to do it, to comment regularly, daily if possible, not only for a week but for weeks, months…to make it part of your routine.

It’s good to see your comment Birgit. Yea you are right, you have to make it a routine and do it regularly for at-least a month before any noticeable change can be felt. This is where most people fail, they just go ahead and try it for a while and when they see that the results aren’t showing up as fast as they expected, they just quit it altogether.
But while doing it regularly, it’s important to include variety of other link building and traffic generation strategies (as mentioned in the video) so that it will all look more natural to search engines, especially Google.

Hey Spencer,
Thanks so much for the mention, I really appreciate you using my blog as an example. It just goes to show that when you stay consistent in your efforts they will pay off. I’m so pleased that everyone enjoys stopping by my blog on a regular basis now. I love building these relationships with other bloggers and I enjoy sharing their fabulous content, just like this post.
Great examples of how you need to stay consistent in your efforts and not only will you get more recognition over time but your Alexa ranking will start to drop too. Happy to see your continuing to go downhill. Such a great site to see.
Thanks again and hope you’re enjoying your week.

Thank you Adrienne for stopping by. I got the inspiration to comment on blogs, only after I started to see the huge number of comments that your blog gets and that too in such a short time span. It’s just awesome, I bet it must be really exciting to read all the comments and to see the numbers grow day by day, that in itself will give you motivation to go ahead and blog regularly. Great job.
Thanks for all the nice words about my site. Really appreciate that Adrienne.

Hi Spencer,
Thanks for a really helpful post. I’m only just starting out but I’m beginning to comment on other people’s blogs and I just love Adrienne’s site (which is how I’ve found yours!) I’m learning a lot from the way Adrienne interacts with her readers.
Your advice about diversifying has reminded me I need to set some time aside to visit a few forums, which I haven’t done in a while, so thanks for that!
By the way, I enjoyed your video but hope you won’t be offended if I say I found the background music grated a bit after a while – might be it’s just not my kind of music. Didn’t stop me from listening through to the end, though!
Thank you very much for some great advice,
Sue

Hello Sue, Welcome and glad to hear that you found the post helpful. Good to have an AdrienneSmith.net fan on my blog.
I also learned a lot from her blog, especially about commenting.
Forums are good, but make sure you have your blog link in your signature. Really sorry that you found the music a bit annoying. But thanks for letting me know, because I have no way of knowing what people like and what they don’t. Not always good to go ahead with assumptions.
I really appreciate you stopping by and dropping your valuable comment.
P.S: I will see what I can do about the background music, on my next video.

Hi Dr. Spencer,
For me the beauty of blog commenting is not only getting the benefits of backlinks but also getting something from a blog post. It may be by learning something new, seeing things in a new perspective, getting a good laugh from a funny story, watching a great video, or being amazed by beautiful photos.
Those spammers are missing out on a lot by not taking the time to read the post and always running the risk of their comments being deleted because they don’t provide value.

Hello Theresa, There are lots of benefits of blog commenting, I rather decided to stick to the ranking aspect as that’s what I wanted to blog about. Here are some of the other benefits -
1) Firstly you are building relationship with other bloggers.
2) You will be able keep yourself updated regarding the happenings in your niche.
3) You get visitors back to your blog.
4) You get comments to your blog.
5) You get new ideas to blog about.
6) You are building up you brand by having your picture show up everywhere.
7) People will start to recognize you as an authority.
There are lots more, but these are just the main benefits I can think right off my mind.

Hello Shovon, Thanks for your comment. Yes you will see good results, if you don’t stop after commenting here. Continue it for each and every day for atleast a month.
Also implement other linking strategies. Wishing you great results…
Dr.Spencer Jones
I agree with you, commenting is a way to rank high. As long as the comments are good and constructive then there is nothing wrong with it.

Hello Shalu, Welcome to my blog and thanks for writing a comment. You are right! Instead of commenting just for the sakes of commenting, if people start to comment only on blogs that offer valuable information. I believe it’ll be one of the best time spent because you are both learning and building up your site at the same time.

Very logical tips. What I learnt from the post was:
1. Comment – but don’t comment for commenting sake
2. Make commenting a regular habit.
Good tips shall try to implement them.

Yea you are right. But along with commenting, also include other strategies like creating videos, participating in forums (making use of signature feature) etc, so that you will get links from oth quality sources resulting in quality and link diversity. Another tip is to comment on sites with commentluv plugin enabled, what this does is allows you to put a link to your last post at the bottom of your comment, gving you links to our inner pages, via commening.
Hope it helps…

Hello Ranita, Thanks for commenting. Good to hear that you are finding my posts helpful.
Checking rank simply means to find the position of your website in Google when you search a particular keyword. Usually websites are optimized for a particular keyword or a set of keywords so that the site will show up on the the top search results in Google when that particular keyword is typed. Just for example, when you go to Google.com or Google.co.in and search your website name “Neath My Heart” – You will see that your website shows up as the second result. This is how you check your rank in Google.
Mostly those who have some experience in SEO (Search Engine Optimization) will pick a keyword having high traffic as their domain name (the www. address of a website), put the keyword in their website title like you did with your “Neath My heart” blog and then along with adding content, they will build links to their site using methods like blog commenting/linking to their sites from other sites etc. Eventually the site will come up on top of Google results when that keyword is typed, resulting in lots of natural Google search traffic.
Hope I made it clear ?
